That's right, this January term, I'm going to be traveling to the beautiful, tropical country of Costa Rica! I will be spending three weeks there with about 30 other students from my university and we will be studying plants, animals, ecosystems, sustainability, and ecology in the Costa Rican forests. My particular objective for going on this trip is to finish up my required study abroad credits for my international studies major but I'm also hoping the trip will get me out of my comfort zone.
As an international studies major, I don't get the opportunity to study plants and animals but I'm happy I have the chance to do so on this trip. I'm a little nervous however, because I do not particularly excel in the scientific field. I'm pretty sure the last biology class I took was in high school, oh! and the last time I learned any bit of Spanish was when I was 11 or 12... But that is precisely why I wanted to go on this trip: to go some place completely new, learn about a new subject, and learn more about myself as a person. And I couldn't be more excited!
I will not have much access to the Internet while I'm on the trip and I'm not bringing my laptop with me so unfortunately I can't blog about my adventures. But, perhaps I will do a few blog posts when I get back. Let me know if you would like to hear about it!
Check back in the next few days for more posts before my trip!
