July Favorites

Hello again!

Wow. I can't believe the month of July is coming to a close. It seems like just yesterday I was anticipating all the Fourth of July festivities! But alas, this month has come and is almost gone so I thought I would share some of my favorite things from this past month.

1. Ok, but first coffee tank top: I'm so happy I found this shirt! If you know me well, you know I'm obsessed with coffee and it is the first thing I have in the morning. This will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe once school starts. From Kohl's.

2. Cognac ankle booties: I have been on the hunt for some brown ankle booties for ages and I was so happy when I found these gems! (And they were on mega clearance too!) They are super comfortable and are not too high. They pair perfectly with any summer sundress. From Kohl's.

3. Mary Kay blush and highlight duo in Juicy Guava: I'm in love with this blush color at the moment. It is the perfect color if you want to add a slight flush to your cheeks and the matching highlight is great at giving you that perfect summer glow.

4. Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari: If you're like me and you've been missing Parks and Rec lately, this book is that perfect dose of comedy. I've never read any books written by comedians but I love Aziz so much, I just had to pick it up. It is the perfect summer read! A mixture of laughter and an interesting look at dating in the modern world, it does not disappoint.

5. Smith Brothers tin: This past month, my aunt and uncle sold their farm to downsize. They had a moving sale to get rid of a lot of their stuff and I came across this cute little tin. It's very vintage looking and I thought it would be a cute addition to my apartment at school.

6. Day Designer planner: You have no idea how excited I am about this planner! I just received it today but I have been excited about it for the past month! I don't want to say too much about it because I'm planning on doing a full review and a comparison with the Lilly Pulitzer planner in the future but I'm so excited to use it this school year.

What was your favorite thing from July? Also, stay tuned for an announcement coming this Saturday!

For those who have never heard of the brand MANGO, it is a clothing company with stores all over the world with clothing very similar to Zara. I had never heard of the brand until my study abroad trip to France last year when I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of items. There are only a few locations in the States, located mainly in New York City. However, they do have a website and there is free shipping with purchases over $50!

This sale has about 2,000 items marked from 50%-70% off, with many items between $20-$30! (Insert shocked emoji) There were so many great items! Below, I complied my favorites into categories for easy searching. Some items are great summer pieces that can be worn now, and some are great transitional pieces that can be worn into the cooler months. Happy shopping! :)

My Summer Essentials

Hey there!

Finally. It is officially summer! Hopefully that means the sun will stick around and the gloomy weather will stay away. Nonetheless, I thought I would share some of my summer essentials to survive the season.

1. A bikini
Summer is here and it's time to hit the pool (or the beach)! A bikini is a must to enjoy the water and the sunshine. I love this one because I can mix and match these separates to other bikinis I own. The top is from Victoria's Secret and the bottoms are from Target.

2. Flip flops
Nobody want to walk around in stuffy shoes all day so flip flops are great, breezy alternative. I love the gold color of these. They go with pretty much everything and can add a cute metallic element to any outfit. Mine are from Kohl's but I've been lusting after these Jack Rogers since forever! Maybe for my birthday in August...

3. Sunglasses
With the summer sunshine, it's important to protect your eyes so sunglasses are a great stylish solution. When searching for the perfect pair, you should find a ones that compliment your face shape and personal style. Mine are a classic aviator from Kohl's. I often buy cheaper sunglasses because I can be careless with them by misplacing them or throwing them in my bag when I'm on the go. I really would like to invest in a good pair of Ray Ban aviators like these though.

4. A baseball hat
I often don't wash my hair every day in the summer so wearing a hat is a great way to hide when my hair is extra greasy. Hats are also great way to protect your face from sunburn if you are going to be out in the sun. I love this hat because I get to rep my letters whenever I wear it. #goadpi

5. Gold jewelry
Lately, I've really loved dainty gold jewelry. Just wearing a simple gold necklace or bracelet can add a little more personality to a basic outfit like a t-shirt and shorts. I love my gold "A" necklace I got this past spring at a local boutique and my Alex and Ani ADPi bangle bracelet is also a favorite. I can't wait to get more to add to my stack.

6. Water bottle
With the summer sun, comes the summer heat so it's important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water throughout the day. It's definitely a habit I need to work on but my Camelbak water bottle is a great way to remind me to keep drinking water. I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods a couple of years ago but you can find them just about anywhere these days. Tip: Clean all the parts daily to avoid a build up of mold and bacteria!

7. Moisturizer with SPF
Whether you are going outside for 10 minutes or 2 hours, it is important to remember to wear sunscreen. It is especially important to protect the delicate skin of your face. Because I'm often forgetful, I like to use a moisturizer that has an SPF in it. I love the gentleness of Aveeno's skincare and would recommend their products to anyone who has sensitive skin.

8. Makeup finishing spray
Have you ever done your makeup perfectly, gone outside in the heat and humidity, and then found your face to be "melting off"? Well this product will save your life! A makeup finishing spray is a great way to prime or set your makeup so it will stay put through sweat and heat during your day. Mine is from Mary Kay but Ulta and Sephora have a number of products that will do the job!

9. A good book
I love my summer break because I get a chance to do some reading for leisure instead of class. It's a great way to unwind and escape from a stressful day. I'm currently reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth. It is the third and final book in the Divergent series and let me tell you, there are so many twists and turns! I definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't had a chance to read it yet.

10. Trend accessory: tassels
From the looks of Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr, tassels are a big trend this summer. I've seen them on shorts, tops, bags, jewelry, you name it! It's all about the tassels and the more color, the better! One day when I was perusing Pinterest, I found a DIY on how to make beaded tassel bracelets. It seemed fairly easy so I decided to give it a try myself and I love how they turned out! They are super cute stacked together and give a fun pop of color to a simple outfit. Leave me a comment if you would like to see how I made them!

Well, that's all for now! Leave me a comment of your summer essential item!
